Hello everyone, this is Sarah writing tonight’s post. I just got off the phone with Karen, then Chris called too. Chris’s colon didn’t start working as hoped today, so Dr. Belzer will be doing surgery again tomorrow (Thursday). Needless to say, this isn’t how Chris and Karen had hoped to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Surgery is scheduled for 11 a.m. Chris said that Dr. Belzer explained that he’s just not sure what’s going on, and he’s helpless from the outside, so he wants to go in and take a good look around and figure out what’s going on. Dr. Belzer said he wants to do as little as possible, so if it’s nothing major, it could be a quick fix. If it’s more major, it could require another colon resection similar to the last surgery, and there is a slight chance that he would do a temporary colostomy. Chris wanted me to let everyone know that after talking to Dr. Belzer, he is very at peace with the decision to do surgery again and take care of whatever the problem may be. Chris is confident that Dr. Belzer has his best interest in mind and is doing the right thing. Chris also wanted me to be sure to thank everyone for all of your thoughts and prayers. Talking to Chris is always so reassuring – you’d hardly know that he is the patient. His strength is amazing and certainly he’s drawing some of that strength from all of you. Thank you.
