Monday’s Update

Chris had significant pain last night that kept him from falling asleep.  They gave him his 1st dose of the morphine. He was then able to rest after the pain subsided. He also took a field trip to Methodist Hospital today and as Karen says “delivered a 12 pound baby”.  They drained that much fluid out of his abdomen.  He had a lot of nausea getting to and from the hospital, the car had to stop a couple of times on each trip. Another dose of morphine helped him rest again this afternoon. Chris also had some very valuable time with his boys tonight.  He also turned into a prop comedian tonight when he left his room with a surgical glove on one hand. Not sure what type of patient he was seeking out but I don’t think he had any volunteers. Chris Mom saw him through the night last night and tonight it is Steve Lish’s turn once again.  Chris was feeling better tonight after the nap when all his organs had settled down following the afternoon’s procedure and nausea. He must have been feeling okay when Karen listed all the possibilities for dinner and Karen added that the staff could make a milkshake too.  With a sly smile Chris said, “Let’s start with the Milkshake.”

Keep praying and sending him your love. He daily looks forward to visitors and is trying to be awake during visiting hours.

Pray that Chris has good rest tonight.

Chris – Jeanne and I talked at length about you today. I was very sad to hear about your condition. I know we didn’t play a large or important role in each other’s lives but but I’ll miss the part that we had together.

    Hey, Chris!
We continue to hold you and your family in our prayers. Despite all the awful things you have been through with your cancer, I am so glad you have had this chance to know just how many lives you have touched and what a difference you are making. Not everyone can say they have left a special mark on so many people’s hearts and souls. Your testimony through your blog has been amazing. I can only imagine when you get to Heaven God saying “Welcome home – well done, good and faithful servant.” Thank you for your leadership and upstanding example, not only in youth group so long ago, but still today.
    Love and prayers,
    Cindy
